Troy Tulowitzki agrees to 7-year deal
Troy Tulowitzki and the Colorado Rockies are looking ahead with 2020 vision.
The sides agreed Tuesday to a new contract that pays Tulowitzki an additional $134 million over seven seasons through 2020, a deal that means Colorado has guaranteed the All-Star shortstop $157.75 million in the next decade.
"I'm really lucky," Tulowitzki said. "I can't wait to be here my entire career."

Despite the more recent releases of the Curve 8500 series and the Curve 3G, RIM has never really offered up a true successor to the venerable Curve 8900 -- a device some would argue remains the prettiest that Waterloo has ever manufactured. Indeed, with the QVGA display and meager cam on the 3G, there's a pretty magnificent gap between it and the business-class Bold 9700 / 9780... so we're pretty excited to see a new model called the Curve 8980 get FCC approval. Oh, and what's more, the filing's now got access to a user's manual and external shots where you can definitely picture this as being a proper optical pad-equipped follow-on to the 8900 of old, complete with a 3.2 megapixel cam with flash and -- if we had to guess -- a high-res display adopted either from the 9780 or the 8900. No word on a release, but here's the kicker: as far as we can tell from the filing, it's EDGE-only just like the device it replaces, which is pretty inexcusable for a device that'd presumably be released in 2011. Add 3G, though, and they've got a desperately-needed new model to slot in underneath the Bold.
49ers Frank Gore out for the season.
San Francisco running back Frank Gore is expected to miss the rest of the season with a broken right hip, suffered Monday night in the 49ers' win over Arizona.
Gore was hurt on San Francisco's first series. He tried to return to the field before going out for good in the second quarter of the Niners' 27-6 win. He carried five times for 52 yards.
Gore ends his season with 203 carries for 853 yards, both team highs, and three rushing touchdowns. He also has 46 catches for 452 receiving yards and two TD receptions.
Veteran Brian Westbrook, who figures to see more carries in Gore's absence, rushed for 136 yards and a touchdown Monday night. He's the 49ers' second-leading rusher, with 28 carries for 145 yards.

-- Drew Brees was honored as Sports Illustrated's sportsman of the year for his championship on the field and his charity off it.
Brees became the award's 57th recipient when the magazine made the announcement Tuesday on the "Today" show. The quarterback led the long-suffering New Orleans to their first Super Bowl title in February, lifting the spirits of the hurricane-battered city.

Johnson and Finnegan Fined
NFL fines Andre Johnson and Cortland Finnegan $25,000 each for fight on Sunday. It was fair for both players to be fined in the game and there was no excuses for the fight the fine was justified for the fine to be issued out even if Finnegan started it.

I didn’t even notice it until people mentioned it after the game. Often, coming out of the timeout, it’s a pinball game. I’m colliding into a lot of people. So it’s probably a perfect case of over-speculation from this team. I was fine with that timeout. The fact that guys are not happy about the play, tempers rose, you could see the fire and passion in people’s eyes. That’s the way it should be. None of us should be happy about what was going on in the third quarter and taking it in stride.

R.I.P Funny Man Leslie Nielsen
Leslie Nielsen, who made audiences laugh with his ridiculous seriousness and deadpan deliveries in the absurd scenes of comedy films likeAirplane! and Naked Gun has died. He was 84.
His agent confirmed that the actor died Sunday near his home in Fort Lauderdale, Fla., surrounded by his "lovely wife and friends" at 5:34 p.m. ET, due to complications of pneumonia.
Nielsen had been hospitalized for nearly two weeks as a result of pneumonia, his agent said.

Round One In H-Town
In today's NFL game between Tennessee Titans and the Houston Texans WR Andre Johnson and Titans CB Cortland Finnegan were thrown out the game due to the fight that occurred on the field. Cortland Finnegan that makes himself out to be one of the dirties player in the NFL that he has already been fined three times this year for fight. Johnson which is one of the cleaner player in the league will also be fined for the fight and perhaps suspended for one game.
