Ronaldinho is Staying for the moment

AC Milan director Umberto Gandini says the team has no plans to part with striker Ronaldinho "for the moment."

Italian media have speculated that the Brazilian will be moving to one of several interested Brazilian sides in the January transfer window, or to another Serie A club. The speculation intensified after the team signed Italy forward Antonio Cassano from Sampdoria this month.

Gandini says Ronaldinho arrived Monday in Dubai and took part in training before a Jan. 2 exhibition match against a local club.

Gandini said it was the desire of club owner and Italian prime minister Silvio Berlusconi "that [Ronaldinho] will play and stay with Milan for the moment."

Andy Pettitte's texts hint at retirement

Andy Pettitte

New York Yankees first baseman Mark Teixeira has been exchanging text messages with Andy Pettitte during the offseason as Pettitte sits at home in Deer Park, Texas deciding whether to pitch for the Yankees in 2011 or retire.
Teixeira said on Tuesday that, through his communication with Pettitte, he's gotten the sense that the veteran left-hander is "leaning toward retirement." But the Yankees first baseman is holding out hope that Pettitte will return to a Yankee rotation that sorely needs him next season.
"I think, like everyone else [thinks], if he's leaning one way, he's probably leaning towards retiring," Teixeira said on Tuesday at a press conference to kick off Thursday's Pinstripe Bowl game at Yankee Stadium. "I think that's what he's publicly said. It's no secret right now. That's probably where he's leaning. But in a month and a half, a lot can happen."
Yankees general manager Brian Cashman echoed similar sentiments about Pettitte earlier this month. Pettitte, 38, is coming off one of the best seasons of his 16-year career. He finished 2010 with an 11-3 record and a 3.28 ERA. He missed most of the second half with a groin injury but returned late in the regular season. He went 1-1 with a 2.57 ERA in two playoff starts for the Bombers, who were eliminated in the ALCS by the Texas Rangers.

Donovan McNabb seeks release

Being that Donovan McNabb no longer is a part of the Washington Redskins' game plans, he has his own game plan in place for after this season, according to one person close to the quarterback.
After the season, McNabb is planning to meet with the Redskins and ask them for his release. McNabb wants to be in a position where he can pick the place to finish his career, not have it dictated to him as was the case last season when Philadelphia traded him to Washington.
McNabb, who was benched in place of Rex Grossman for last week's game against Dallas, will be the No. 3 quarterback for the final two games of the season.
It's highly unlikely the Redskins initially would release McNabb, not when they believe he still has some trade value. Washington would want to recoup as much as possible for the player whom they surrendered second- and fourth-round picks.

Report: Johnny Damon, Yankees discussing reunion

Look who might be getting back together......
The Yankees and Johnny Damon are discussing a contract that would bring him back to the ballclub after a one-year break, spent with the Tigers, Newsday's Ken Davidoff is reporting. Damon, 37, played for the Yankees from 2006-09, hitting .285 with a .363 on-base percentage in a tenure that was capped off with a world championship in 2009. They parted ways, though, over a disagreement in value; the Yankees signed Nick Johnson, and Damon came to Detroit.
His role in New York would be as a part-time designated hitter and part-time left fielder, Newsday reported. A deal, though, is not imminent, as Damon would like a full-time role.

GT Academy competition to be featured in Speed Network reality show

Not only are the best Gran Turismo 5 players getting a chance to be professional racecar drivers, but they're gonna be on the teevee, too! The competition, which started up this month, is turning into a reality show on the Speed Network next year. When the finals start up in March of 2011, the last 32 contestants and their travels and travails will be filmed for the show as they go through the last of the contest and the race training process.

It's not mentioned whether or not the contestants will have to perform stunts on a desert island, live in a house together while under the watch of cameras 24/7, or give roses to each other but we'll just assume, since it's a reality show, that all of those things will happen. We also wonder which contestant will be the plucky, charismatic racer that eventually becomes a D-level celebrity. Either way I know I'll be watching it

Inter Milan wins FIFA Club World Cup

Inter

Inter Milan won the Club World Cup on Saturday, defeating TP Mazembe 3-0 to end the surprising run by the African champion.
Inter, the European champions, won its fifth title of the year and second for coach Rafa Benitez.
Inter jumped to a 2-0 lead on goals by Goran Pandev in the 13th minute and Samuel Eto'o in the 17th. Eto'o, the player of the tournament, has 19 goals in 23 games for Inter but this was his first since Nov. 21. Joseph Biabiany completed the scoring in the 85th minute.
In the third-place match, Brazil's Internacional beat Seongnam Ilhwa of South Korea 4-2.
Inter captured its third world club title following success in 1964 and 1965. It added to this year's sweep of the Italian league cup and Champions League under Jose Mourinho, plus the Italian Supercup to start this season.

Zack Greinke dealt to Brewers

Former Cy Young Award winner Zack Greinke has been traded to the Milwaukee Brewers, sources told us on this Sunday morning.
In the deal, the Royals are reportedly acquiring Brewers outfielder Lorenzo Cain, shortstop Alcides Escobar and pitching prospects Jake Odorizzi and Jeremy Jeffress for the 27-year-old Greinke, 10-14 with a 4.17 ERA in 2010 after winning the 2009 Cy Young.
Royals general manager Dayton Moore had been actively shopping for major league-ready, up-the-middle position players for Greinke.
The Brewers were expected to receive another major leaguer in the deal. Jim Breem of the blog "Bernie's Crew" reported that player to be shortstop Yuniesky Betancourt.
Greinke joins a Brewers rotation that includes Yovani Gallardo, Randy Wolf, Chris Narveson and Shaun Marcum, acquired this month in a trade with the Toronto Blue Jays.
Greinke, 60-67 with a 3.82 ERA in six full seasons with the Royals after being drafted No. 6 overall in 2002, missed nearly all of 2006 because of an anxiety disorder, and that was partly shaping the possible market value for him. The Yankees, for example, were likely to pass on any run at Greinke given the questions about how he would adapt to the high pressure of New York.
The Texas Rangers made what they considered to be an aggressive offer for Greinke during the winter meetings earlier this month, only to learn that they were far short of Kansas City's expectations.
And the Washington Nationals were told that in order to get Greinke they would have to surrender Jordan Zimmermann, Drew Storen and second baseman Danny Espinosa which for the Nationals too high of a asking price.

Sources say Tim Tebow to make his first NFL start

The Denver Broncos will give rookie quarterback Tim Tebow his first NFL start Sunday at Oakland, a team source told us on Today.
Tebow has taken most every snap this week in practice with starter Kyle Orton nursing bruised ribs. The Broncos' plan to start Tebow is based on his talents, the source said.
Tebow has made only cameo appearances this season and thrown just one NFL pass since former coach Josh McDaniels selected him in the first round of the draft in April following his much-celebrated career at Florida, where he won two national titles and a Heisman Trophy.
Tebow still has a long way to go in morphing from a college quarterback who ran the ball as much as he threw it into a prototypical pro passer.
McDaniels was fired Dec. 6 with the Broncos (3-10) in the midst of their worst slide in four decades and the Spygate II videotape scandal that embarrassed the foundering franchise.
Interim coach Eric Studesville insisted this week that Orton is still his starter but acknowledged Thursday that the quarterback situation was unsettled with Orton's status in limbo.
Orton, who has been sacked a career-high 34 times and thrown nearly 500 passes already, was in obvious pain at the podium this week but insisted that while he was sore, his arm wasn't the issue despite poor performances the past two weeks.
His bruised ribs, however, kept him on the sideline and allowed Tebow to get most of the first-team snaps for the first time all year.

Twins and Tsuyoshi Nishioka agree to terms

Japanese batting champion Tsuyoshi Nishioka and the Minnesota Twins have agreed to a $9 million, three-year contract that includes a club option for the 2014 season.
The Twins scheduled a news conference for Saturday to introduce the 26-year-old Nishioka, who led the Pacific League with a .346 average last season. The Twins submitted the highest bid, $5,329,000, to his former team in Japan for negotiating rights to Nishioka, who can play second base or shortstop.
The Twins have openings at both positions, with J.J. Hardy traded and Orlando Hudson a free agent. One of their offseason goals was to add more speed to the lineup, and Nishioka is part of that plan.
He'll be paid $3 million for each of the next three seasons. The Twins can exercise a $4 million option for 2014 or pay a $250,000 buyout.

Mr Utility Man himself Bill Hall is going to the Astros

A person familiar with the deal tells us that the Houston Astros have agreed to a one-year contract with free agent Bill Hall that guarantees $3.25 million.
The person spoke Friday on condition of anonymity because the deal has not been announced.
Hall's agreement contains a mutual option for 2012 with a buyout.
The utility player spent last season with the Boston Red Sox and is likely to be Houston's starting second baseman.
He hit .247 with 18 homers and 46 RBIs last season. Hall, who turns 31 on Dec. 28, has hit .250 with 122 homers and 425 RBIs in a nine-year career mostly spent with Milwaukee.

Fast And Furious 5 (Fast Five) [Movie Trailer]

Kasey Keller Hangs it up

Goalkeeper Kasey Keller will retire after the 2011 season, his 23rd in professional soccer.

The former U.S. national team goalkeeper agreed Friday to a contract for next season, his third with Seattle. The 41-year-old was the starter for the United States at the 1998 and 2006 World Cups, and the 1996 Olympics.

Keller said at a news conference that he didn't "want to be that guy where everyone says, 'You should have retired last year."

Before joining Major League Soccer, he played for the Portland Timbers (1989), Millwall (1992-96), Leicester (1996-99), Rayo Vallecano (1999-01), Tottenham (2001-05), Southampton (2004), Borussia Moenchengladbach (2005-07) and Fulham (2007-08).

Big Moves in Orlando

The Orlando Magic, already in serious trade talks with the Washington Wizards about acquiring Gilbert Arenas, have agreed to a deal in principle with the Phoenix Suns, according to league sources.
The trade returns former Magic star Hedo Turkoglu, along with Jason Richardson and Earl Clark , to Orlando in exchange for Vince Carter, Marcin Gortat, Mickael Pietrus, a 2011 first-round pick and cash considerations.

Wheeler to the Red Sox

The Great Bullpen Reconstruction continued Saturday, with the Red Sox announcing a deal with another veteran setup man, right-hander Dan Wheeler.

Wheeler, one of the reliable pieces Joe Maddon employed in Tampa Bay for the past three years, is averaging 68 appearances per season, is leaving the Rays to return to his native New England.

Wheeler, a native of Warwick, R.I. (he was selected by the Rays out of Pilgrim High School in the 34th round of the 1997 draft), signed a one-year deal with an option for a second year that vests if he makes 65 appearances.

Last season, Wheeler was 2-4 with a 3.35 ERA for the Rays. He pitched in the eighth inning in the majority of his 64 appearances last season, though he also pitched 22 times in the sixth and seventh innings. He is expected to be used more as a sixth- and seventh-inning man by the Red Sox.

Wheeler also pitched parts of two seasons with the Mets and 3½ seasons with Houston. He turned 33 on Dec. 10.

Hottest R&B Mixtape Right Now...

So, it took me time to decide what my first blog was going to be, as the only female on the "Oceans Lounge" blog. For those of you who don't know me, I'm "Fergie," student --> future teacher, ex-journalism major, model & make-up artist. I also like to refer to myself as the "first lady" aka "Lady Oceans." Lol But I, of course, don't want to take anything from my Oceans boys. ;-)

ANYWAY, I've been listening to 3 mixtapes this week, all from R&B artists, and I'm blown away by Sean Garrett's. "The Inkwell" features cameos by Jazy-Z, Gucci, Nicki Minaj, Soulja Boy, and more, and includes the hit "Feel Love" ft. Drake. All of the music is original and written by Sean Garrett, aka "the pen." You learn on the 1st track in a collage of snippets, most of our favorite hit hip-hop songs have been written by him, hence the nickname. He's the new, better version of Ne-yo (writter turned singer) in my opinion. He can rap and sing, and has the lyrics to do so. Plus, i love the music he writes; he has tight beats, some r&b, others bangers. I think it's safe to say he's multi-dimentional. I was disappointed by Trey Songz' mixtape "LetMeHolDatBeat" as well as Chris Brown's "In My Zone 2." Trey didn't impress me with his original songs or any of the lyrics on the mixtape songs. And, although I'm #teamchrisbrown, he didn't impress me either with his sequal to last February's "In My Zone" which I loved. So, this is a completely unbiased, female opinion. =) Boys, feel free to put your 2 cents in as usual! =P
