Rolling Stones frontman Mick Jagger became the latest victim of the Twitter death hoax after 'RIP Mick Jagger' turned up on the Trending Topics list on Wednesday. With the microblogging site set on fire by tweets on Mick Jagger's hoax death, the fans did not take it well.
Killer16Bars wrote, "RIP Mick Jagger trending is not even remotely funny."
Another tweet said, "Hey I just saw that RIP Mick Jagger is trending no doubt some 'bleiber' started it out of spite towards a truly talented MAN."
'Bleiber' refers to fans of Justin Beiber, who also happened to be the victim of a Twitter death hoax last month.
Among other victims of phony fatalities were Don Shula, the American football cornerback and coach, and Hollywood stars such as Owen Wilson, Johnny Depp, Russell Crowe, Stephenie Meyer, Eddie Murphy, Adam Sandler, Bill Cosby and Charlie Sheen
However, as is the case with almost all hoax trending topics, 'RIP Mick Jagger' also elicited some humorous and extremely entertaining tweets. Steve Death (@Its_Death) posted, "RIP Mick Jagger? No, no, no. He's not dead. He just looks like he is." Lord_G_Almighty tweeted, "Just because there's more meat on a chariot's whip than on Mick Jagger, doesn't mean he's dead. RIP Twitter Sanity."
Mick Jagger was in the news last for the impressive performance at the Grammy Awards on Sunday. The 67-year-old rockstar paid tribute to singer/legend Solomon Burke, the 'King of Rock 'n' Soul' who passed away last year, with a rendition of 'Everybody Needs Somebody to Love'.
His performance was spectacular as the veteran rocked seemed to be in the element with the energy levels to strut back and forth on stage in his signature swagger.
